Minnesota Splash 2009 Attracts Rookies, Vets Ahead of 2010 Build

By David F.

December 12, 2009 –The University of Minnesota’s Anderson Hall was fill to capacity and then some, as Edina Robotics FIRST Team 1816-Green Machine hosted a morning packed with seminars and presentations about FIRST Robotics.

The Green Machine would like to thank all those who came to Minnesota Splash 2009, especially those rookie teams that traveled five hours – if not more – from far northern Minnesota and up from Iowa.  More than 600 FRC team members, mentors and volunteers attended the morning of FIRST-related seminars, which is without a doubt the best turnout yet.

The presentations covered anything and everything one needs to know about FRC robotics, from putting together an effective team organization, to how to best prepare for robot inspection at the competitions, to the intricacies of the robot control system and programming. Seminars on chassis and manipulators, pneumatics, and robot programming, and game strategy were especially popular. Presentations also covered Team Spirit, The Chairman’s Award, Animation and Media.

Many of the 2009 Minnesota Splash presentations and seminars are posted below.

Thanks again to everyone who could make it and good luck to all for a successful 2010 build season!
